Support as many people as possible to suffer less, to enjoy life and to live more deeply
Develop freely available mobile and web apps to share the teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh and of the Plum Village monastic community.
Always try to make our code open-source in the spirit of generosity and sharing with others.
Develop tools for people, new and experienced in the practice, as well as for Sanghas, to access and make the most of the PV practice resources.
Supporting in particular those who would otherwise find it difficult to access the teachings, for example due to disability, age, location, language, or financial hardship.
Develop the app and our “team ethics” in line with the Five Mindfulness Trainings, particularly including healthy consumption and mindful technology use.
The app will be offered free forever, and the expenses will be covered by a mix of optional donations from users and commissions from potential future in-app purchases of (such as PV e-books, films, and other media).
The content should be freely accessible via the app stores on both Android and iOS devices, and in the browser directly for people who don’t have access to a smartphone.
We will always be completely transparent with our donations and expenses, offering a public dashboard available for everyone (coming soon!)
Most of the monthly expenses are dedicated for development, audio and video editing, hosting and services costs, and we also want to keep a monthly 10% to 15% of our budget for innovation (to fund other Plum-Village related side-projects of the team, such as the calligraphy browser plugin, an Apple Watch extension of the app, PlumVillage.tv, etc).
Curate, create and commission content that responds to the current needs of our users, as informed by our public feedback and requests board.
Work in harmony with the monastic PV sangha in terms of content, design and features.
Promote peace, understanding, joy and wellbeing, within ourselves, our loved ones, within the team, and throughout the world.
