Dear friends,
We’re happy to share with you a new podcast available on the Plum Village App. Meet the Monastics is produced by the team at Deer Park Monastery, the Buddhist monastery in the Plum Village Tradition, founded by Zen Master Thich Nhat Hahn in California in July 2000.
Hosted by Brother Minh An, the podcast focuses on conversations with monks and nuns of the Plum Village Tradition about their journey to monastic life and what inspires them today.
We caught up with Brother Minh An, who kindly answered a few questions for us.
What do you think this podcast brings to the media landscape of the Plum Village Tradition?
Plum Village provides a wealth of opportunities to explore the practice through its online teachings. With Meet the Monastics, our goal is to demystify the monastic path, offer listeners a deeper connection with us, and inspire them to bring the teachings into their everyday lives, fostering the same dedication and commitment that the monastics embody.
What has been the feedback so far, especially from lay audiences?
The feedback has been very positive so far. Listeners have shared that they are inspired by the sincerity, positive energy, and deep aspirations of the interviewees. One even wrote to say that the episodes helped them solidify their own monastic aspiration!
It’s November 2024 now; how many new episodes will there be this year?
We’ll continue to release weekly episodes each Tuesday over the next four weeks, and begin work on a second season in the spring.
